Our History
SPeCCU was founded in 1995 by a group of parishioners from St. Peters Catholic Church in Kumasi who wanted to create a financial institution that would serve the needs of the local community. What began as a small savings club with just 25 members has grown into one of the most respected credit unions in the Ashanti Region.
Foundation
SPeCCU established with 25 founding members and initial capital of GHS 5,000. First office opened in a small room at St. Peters Church.
First Branch
Opened our first branch office in Bantama, expanding beyond the church premises to serve the wider community.
Computerization
Implemented our first computerized banking system, dramatically improving service efficiency.
20th Anniversary
Celebrated 20 years of service with over 5,000 members and assets exceeding GHS 10 million.
Digital Transformation
Launched mobile banking app and online services to meet changing member needs.
Today
Serving over 15,000 members with 6 branches across Kumasi and assets exceeding GHS 50 million.

Our journey from a small church-based savings club to one of the leading credit unions in the Ashanti Region is a testament to the trust and support of our members. We remain focused on our mission to promote thrift among our members by encouraging savings, providing loans at fair and reasonable rates, and offering other financial services that improve their economic and social well-being.

Our new mobile app and upgraded online banking platform make it easier than ever to manage your finances while our friendly staff remain available to provide personalized service.
